Official Guide Question

by mike Sun Sep 14, 2008 9:48 pm

I am trying to practice math problems at a particular level. In the Official Guide book, the problems clearly become more difficult as you get into the higher numbered problems. Can someone please tell me if they have a breakdown of where the 300-500, 500-600, 600-700 and 700-800 problems are? i.e. approximately between what numbers in the book are these different levels located.

Hopefully, that made sense. Thanks a lot.

Hey Mike-

Unfortunately there's no formal breakdown of which problems are which difficulty level. I know you've already realized that they get harder as the book progresses, but the book is actually does focus a little less on the highest level problems. Sorry we weren't able to give you a more definitive answer, but the best I can say is to roughly split the material in fourths and call those chunks the different problem levels.

Best,

OG problems are too easy

OG problems are hopeless out of date. If you take the GMAT Prep or GMAT Focus, you will agree.

Apparently, GMAC has been increasing the difficulty of Quant questions over the years. Maybe this is because more foreign students are taking GMAT and they tend to do better in Quant.

Although MGMAT workbooks provide some good 650+ level questions, I highly recommend EZ Solutions for Advanced GMAT Math.

There are a lot of easier questions in OG, yes, because the book does provide the full range of questions. There are also 700+ level questions in OG, though.

I've never heard of EZ Solutions - can't comment on that.
