O.G. Explanations

by john.dennybrown Wed Nov 04, 2009 10:32 am

Hi

When I started my course a few months ago I remember something about "there is consistent feedback from MGMAT students about the explanations provided for the O.G. problems not being useful / detailed enough walk-throughs." I completely forget where I saw/read/heard this (in class, on this discussion board, on the main MGMAT website, etc), but I know I picked that up somewhere!

I thought that MGMAT was in the process of developing something to help address this issue. Can anyone point me in the right direction on this? It would be nice to have additional resources available to help while going through the O.G. problems.

Thanks!

We are - we've written a book with our own explanations for the quant portion of OG12 - but I don't think it's actually going to hit the bookshelves until January (if not later). Book publishing takes a while. :(

There are a bunch of old problems discussed and archived here on the forums. We can't, unfortunately, have new discussions of OG problems because, a couple of years ago, the GMAC folks started to enforce their copyright and prevent OG problems from being posted publicly. The archives from before the ban, however, are still up, so you can search for specific problems and see whether they were already discussed. If so, hopefully that explanation / discussion will help.

You can also try beatthegmat.com (a non-test-prep-company study site that partners with a bunch of test prep companies to answer questions - we're one of their partners).

If your course is still active, you can also ask during office hours.

Hello - I was just wondering if there are any updates about this (has the book been published yet)? Thanks.

Actually, yes - I think it has been sent to the publisher but I'm not sure of the publication date. I'll find out - I'm curious too!

I just went and looked on Amazon and the "Official Guide Companion" is available for pre-order with a publication date of June 1st. I'll check with our curriculum "guru" to see whether that date is accurate.
