Need your advice!!!!

by machi123jmu Wed Dec 08, 2010 12:55 pm

Dear Stacey i am in dilemma.Something really bad happen to me.

I took my Gmat two months back and scored 680. I decided to take it again after two months as deadline for my dream school was in two months.I took it butwas not able to concentrate in my verbal section due to severe headache.I got 600. Now does this score impact my overall application when I apply to other B schools. Should I retake again???. I have already submitted my scores to the schools.Does this score really put my application in bad respect when I apply to other schools. My quant scores are the same in both the tests .Please suggest

They'll use your 680 - it's okay. :)

You might want to add a note to your application (in the "extra info" section) that explains that you were ill the day of the second test.

Thanks Stacey I am your fan.

Do you think that 680 is a good score to apply to top 20 Colleges or I should study hard for 5-6 months and gave my test again. I know it very well that 710 or 720 wont do much to my profile but 760 can.I have 3 years of work ex and decent extra curriculars. I know this is very generic but for a guy with above average grades in high school and undergraduate is 680 a good score. Does taking exams too many times have a negative impact on the application? I have already got a big no from one of the top university and I am bewildered what to do next? Please help!!

Those are all great questions to ask... but I'm not the right person to ask. :) Post your question in our Ask an Admissions Consultant folder.

I know they're going to want more info from you:
- specific schools to which you want to apply
- actual GPA, undergrad school, undergrad major
- more details about work experience and extra curriculars
- whatever else they say they want to know (I'm not an admissions consultant, so I don't know!)

Post whatever detail you can, then ask them whether they need to know anything else.
