Need more Practice Tests

by mike Fri Oct 03, 2008 7:18 pm

I've taken all 6 of the MGMAT practice tests as well as the two GMATPrep tests and I'm planning on taking the GMAT in two weeks. I would like to take one more practice test. Does anyone know of any other practice tests that are a fairly good indicator or how one would score on the real GMAT?

Thank you.

In my (admittedly biased) opinion, those are the two best sources. You can re-take either GMATPrep or MGMAT, though you run the risk of repeated questions. If you choose to re-take either test, here's what to do in order to minimize the impact of repeated questions:

1) If you see a question you recognize, immediately look at the timer and make yourself sit there for the full 2 min (1.5 for SC). Don't let yourself gain a time advantage you wouldn't normally have.

2) If you remember that you got the question right the first time around, get it right again this time. If you remember that you got the question wrong the first time around, get it wrong again this time (unless you honestly think you've improved enough that you would have gotten it right now). If you don't remember, then spend the two minutes having a little debate with yourself - do you think it's more likely that you'd get this one right or wrong if this were the first time you were seeing it? And answer accordingly.

If you are on only your 7th MGMAT test, you're not likely to see many repeats anyway. Plus, if you follow the above guidelines, the repeats won't have a significant effect.

Thanks Stacey. I reset the tests and took a MGMAT practice test on Saturday and scored a 640 and I took another MGMAT practice test yesterday and scored a 700. On yesterday's test I probably had a total of 6 or 7 repeats, some of which I answered correctly on Saturday's test.

On both tests I scored significantly better than I did a month ago when I last took a MGMAT test. Over that month I dedicated myseld to studying and I felt like I had improved significantly. However, I just want to make sure that I am actually doing better and that the higher scores aren't just because the reset tests focus on the higher difficulty problems. So, basically I am asking if the reset tests are essentially the exact same as the first 6 tests that I took.

Thank you.

yes - the reset tests do not assume anything about you or your scoring level. The algorithm itself works exactly the same way as the first time around. The only difference is if you see questions you remember.
