Need grammar Help

by Shib Thu Jun 07, 2007 11:54 am

I came accross a question which was like :

She is taller than me but she is not as pretty as me.

The correction proposed for this was : She is taller than me but she is not as pretty as I.

Shouldn't it be ideally : She is taller than I (am) but she is not as pretty as I (am).

Can you please explain this answer.

Shib,

Either you have copied the proposed correction incorrectly or "Crack"-GMAT is a literal description. Your correction - She is taller than I (am) but she is not as pretty as I (am) - is the correct one. She is taller than me is a pronoun case error.

Sentence Correction help

Got this from Crack-Gmat test series:

<<She can sing better than me but she isn't as pretty as I.>>

It says that the above sentence is correct. But shouldn't it be:

She can sing better than I (can) but she isn't as pretty as I.

Shib,

She can sing better than me but she isn't as pretty as I is incorrect. The correct pronoun case is She can sing better than I but she isn't as pretty as I

Not necessarily. Just not in this example.
