In a certain group of 10members, 4 members only teach French and the rest teach Spanish and German, If the group is to choose a 3 member committee, which must have at least one member teacher French, how many different committees can be chosen?

I really, really want to help you because your test is tomorrow... but you broke several forum rules, including a big one, so I can't. :( If we let you get away with breaking the rules, then nobody would follow them.

One thing I'll mention though: the type of problem you posted is not that common on the real test. You might see one counting / combinatorics question on the entire section, and it might not be as difficult as this one. So do your best but, if you don't know what to do, make a timely guess (don't spend extra time!!) and move on.

For future reference, this folder is only for general strategy questions, not content or specific problems. Specific problems must be posted in the relevant folders. If the question is from MGMAT or GMATPrep, post in the specific folder. If the question is not from those sources, first check the banned source list to make sure the source is not banned. If the source is allowed, post the problem in the General Quant (or General Verbal) folder and CITE THE SOURCE. We cannot answer questions for which the source has not been cited. (This is the biggest rule that you broke and there are no exceptions, unfortunately.)

Finally, the forums are a bad place to ask very last minute questions. I happened to be on tonight, but it is more common to wait several days (sometimes up to a week) for a response. For very last minute questions, please contact your instructor or the office if you are one of our students.
