Is n/18 an integer?

(1) 5n/18 is an integer
(2) 3n/18 is an integer

this problem was discussed earlier. I answered A to this but apparently the answer to this question is "C"

I don't understand as to why since the question is very similar to the one in number properties. If statement 1 is insufficient then the answer in the book is wrong too.

I AM CONFUSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do a search in the message board. You'll find the answer.

The explanation does not make sense. The number properties guide gives you one answer and the cat gives you another. Which is correct?

The Guide
is p/18 an integer?

1. 5p/18 is an integer. According to the guide this is sufficient.

The CAT
is n/18 an integer?
1. 5n/18 is an integer. according to the explanations and cats, this statement is insufficient.

Why doesn't the explantion for the CAT not apply to the one from the guide? I don't understand. It is the exact statement with the same restrictions etc.

I read the posts to this question and I still do not get it.

Please explain.

Thanks

I got it. Sorry for the repost. The book specifically states that if "P" is an integeter" and the CAT does not give us that restriction.

Thanks

Cool. Can you post according to the guidelines going forward? It would be a lot more helpful.
