Much Lower Quant on Actual

by mr2490 Wed Aug 04, 2010 7:30 pm

Recently sat for GMAT and received a much lower quant score than on both GMAT Prep and MGMAT CATs. For quant, I had been in the 42-45 range in both versions. I took the practice tests under actual conditions and did both essays. However, on actual I received 35. The verbal portion was high and consistent with practice tests.

I did get off to a slow start on the actual making two stupid mistakes on the first two ?s. However, after the first two, I completed two easier questions quickly and made up time and therefore time was not a factor the rest of the test. I understand practice and actual results can vary, but that seems to be a ridic large difference. Any suggestions for retake?

Read this article and do the analysis described.
Come back here and share your analysis when you're through. Hopefully, that will help us to pinpoint some reasons why this may have happened. If we can figure out why, then we can develop solid plans to combat those "whys."
