Mistake in book?

Is there a mistake on page 102 in the Number properties book?
In the first paragraph, it says 3^4 + 12^4 = 3^4(1+4^4)
but I think it should be 3^4+12^4 = 3^4(1+2^8).
Am i right?

They are equivalent and both correct: 4^4 = (2*2)^4 = (2^2)^4 = 2^(2*4) = 2^8.
