MISSED GMAT APPOINTMENT - please help !!!!!!

by sarthaksinha Tue Oct 04, 2011 10:27 am

Dear Instructors

I was scheduled to appear for the exam today. However, I fell sick last night and was up all night and was in no state to give the test in the morning. Therefore, I could not appear for the test. I did ring them up but they said that it was too late to reschedule or cancel and this attempt will be counted as a 'no show'

This was my second attempt. I have scored a 690 Q44 V40 3 months ago and was quite confident about crossing 700 when this unfortunate thing happened. I have been scoring pretty decently in MGMAT CATS and GMAT prep (around 730). I feel awful.

My question is how bad is a 'no show' from applications point of view? Will the adcom view this unfavourably? Will it count as a second attempt? and any suggestions are most welcome.

Thanks a lot

A "no show" is fine - it means that you didn't even go to the test center. (Vs. a cancelled score - that's when you show up and take the test but then cancel your score at the end.) All you have to do is tell the admissions folks that you fell ill the day before and were unable to take the test that day - they know that this happens sometimes. It's okay. :)

Dear Stacey

Thank you for your reply. Your response did reassure me a lot. I am pleased to inform you that I have now taken the test again and scored a 750 (Q49v44)

I would like to thank all the instructors especially you and Ron and for your amazing explanations on this forums.

I will be posting a debrief on the GMAT test day section for the benefit of future test takers.
