MGMAT Study Strategy Question

by capowerandsound Thu Sep 10, 2009 12:34 pm

Hello All,

I purchased the complete set of MGMAT study guides and have been working through them for several weeks now. I have made my way through the both the Number Properties and the FDP book. My original plan was to go straight through the books starting with book 1, Number Properties, and finishing with book 8, sentence correction. Is this the best way to utilize the MGMAT study material or should I be studying both Quant and Verbal at the same time? What have other people who have chosen to self study done? Thanks for any help you can offer!

I'd generally advise doing quant and verbal at the same time (not on the same day, but some of each in the same week). Otherwise, you will lose your quant skills while you spend all your time on verbal. (Also, your brain learns better when it has some variety - you want to move among topics periodically - and your brain also learns better with reinforcement, which means you want to come back to topics periodically.)

You can get a copy of the syllabus for the course here: http://www.manhattangmat.com/freegmatlearningforum.cfm

Look under the "Highlights" section for the "Official Manhattan GMAT Course Syllabus [pdf]."

The syllabus will reference some resources that you don't have (because you're not taking the whole course), but you can use it to plan your study for the things that you do have (the books).
