MGMAT CAT math score seems interesting!!!

by monira.linda Tue May 10, 2011 12:02 am

Hi

I have just taken three MGMAT CAT exams and details of those are below:

CAT 1 600

Quant 46 ( 17 wrong)
Verbal 28

CAT 2 620
Quant 45 ( 18 wrong)
Verbal 31

CAT 3 640
Quant 44 ( 19 wrong)
Verbal 33

My question is how can i get 600+ while making so many mistakes in math. I have seen that the maths are all 700- 800 level questions that i could not answer correctly. Is that a reason for scoring 600+ ? If yes, is it likely to get 600+ in real exam if i make a lot of mistake on 700+ level Qs but answer all 600+ questions correctly?

I am targeting 700. I have already finished all MGMAT books and solved all questions. Could you pls suggest what else can be done to improve my score?

The test is not scored based upon the percentage correct, the way tests in school were. Everybody gets lots of questions wrong, regardless of the scoring level.

Log into your MGMAT account and read your copy of our e-book The GMAT Uncovered. (It's already in there - everyone's given access.) Pay particular attention to the Scoring section. If you want to maximize your score, you have to understand how the scoring works and it's completely different from tests that you used to take in school.

Re: improving in general, we need data from you about your strengths and weaknesses. Use the following article to analyze your most recent MGMAT test, then come back here and let us know what you discovered. (Note: do give us your actual analysis, not just the raw data - you need to learn how to analyze your performance yourself!)

Then, we'll tell you what we think and advise you! :)
