MGMAT CAT III 680 (Q 46 V 37 IR 4.57) | Quant was tough!

Took the MGMAT CAT III under full test conditions - timed sessions, wrote the Essay (will I get a score for it?), etc.

I found the Quant to be really tough in this CAT. Had to guess approx. 5 problems (got 2 of them right) and for around 3-4 problems I had no idea how to approach.

I will repeat the question I asked Stacey in my old topic/thread regarding MGMAT CAT II - Is the % of 700-800 questions so high in the actual GMAT? I don't think so hence it makes me wonder how 'adaptive' MGMAT CAT really is?

I think I will take 2 more CATs and one GMAT Prep CAT before my test date which is one month from now. Hope to break the 700 barrier in at least one of the MGMAT CATs!

Sorry had to "bump". Are the Manhattan Staffs busy? I am new to this forum so not aware approx how long one has to wait for a reply.

This time of year, unfortunately, it is not at all unusual to wait a week, sometimes longer. This is the busiest time of year and we get buried under posts. And, yes, unfortunately you did wait longer because you bumped your post - you would have been answered several days ago if you hadn't bumped your post. :(

We do not score the essays, no. If you would like to get an essay score, the organization that makes the test offers a service called GMAT Write. You will write an essay and their computer-software grading program will grade it (this is the same program used for the real test). There is a fee - you can find the details on mba.com.

That's good! It means you were doing well enough to get offered questions that wree much too hard for you. The key: did you move on in an appropriate amount of time? This is where people lose ground - they waste time on these kinds of questions, then run out of time towards the end of the test, and their score drops.

I answered your question about the algorithm in response to your other thread. The short answer is: the % of hard questions is different for every person - it depends entirely on your individual performance on the test. There is no "set" percentage of a certain difficulty for everyone - that's part of what "adaptive" means. :)
