MGMAT - 4th Edition- Maths

by sudhir.18n Sun May 15, 2011 4:12 am

Hi All,
I was wondering whether the MGMAT 4th Edition strategy guides suffice the >48 level of expectations in quant. I have also completed the 9 series of live GMAT Prep classes.
I'm asking this because I constantly hear on various forums that the Quant level has increased a lot. Do you suggest any other supplement for quant?
For Verbal I'm sticking to MGMAT SC, CR and RC.
The following are the book I'm using for the prep( still half way in my prep)

MGMAT 8 strtegy gudes- 4th Ed
OG 10,11 and 12 with verbal and quant guides,
9 online Live clases - Manhattan
Aristotle SC Grail and RC 99
Powerscore CR bible.
LSAT CR questions- forums
1000 SC - though I dont like them personally , but a lot of forums have them -so I try answering them
NOVA DS.

Do you guys think this stuff is enough?
Thanks for your answers and suggestions.

The material covered in the strategy guides does cover ALL of the math tested on the exam. Just from that standpoint, yes, that's sufficient.

The way in which they make questions harder does not have to do with testing different / harder material - it has to do with the way in which they write the questions: disguising the real purpose, setting traps, etc.

You may want to read this article:http://www.beatthegmat.com/mba/2010/09/17/disguising-and-decoding-quant-problems

And this one:
http://www.beatthegmat.com/mba/2010/04/ ... -760-score

The kind of study that you need to do in order to go from 80th or so percentile to 95th+ percentile in a section has a lot to do with the "recognition" ideas discussed in the above articles. It's a different kind of study, because it reflects a more advanced kind of thinking, and most people fall short there because they are continuing to try to study in the "old" way that got them up to the 80th percentile or so.

FYI - I agree that I don't like the 1,000 SC set. I advise my students to avoid that.
