I'm guessing that you actually know the meaning of this sentence. If you honestly don't and aren't just fooling yourself into believing that you don't understand it, let us know and we'll try to help you out.
As for why the sentence is correct, this is NEVER what you should be asking about sentence correction. Your only job is to find mistakes. While it is appropriate to ask why something is WRONG, it is never relevant or helpful to ask why something is right. Keep this in mind, and you will do much better in sentence correction!
