Manhattan Advanced Quant : Workout Sets Timing

by abhitechie Mon Apr 16, 2012 3:51 pm

Hi,

My average timing for the problems in MGMAT Advanced Quant Work Out Sets is 3 min/ questions. 30 mins for 10 questions.

However in a set of 10 problems, typically in 2 problems, tend to spend around 4-8 mins.

Is the timing at par or should i speed up ?

By definition, these are only advanced problems, so it makes sense that your timing will be a bit higher than the normal 2 min average (because you wouldn't normally see that many super-hard Qs in a row - if nothing else, you'd get some lower-level experimental questions).

So I'd say I'm okay with an average around 2m30s or 2m45s. 3 min is a bit high, though... start making some decisions about where you do and don't want to spend your time. Cut yourself off on some and guess. You're going to have to do that on test day, too, so you should be doing it in practice. It's a real skill to be able to tell when you should keep going and when you should cut yourself off!
