Looking for some tips on how to study SC Strategy Guide

by caputo.robert Wed Jan 18, 2012 3:52 pm

Hi All -

I just started using the MGMAT SC Strategy Guide, and I'm looking for some tips on the most efficient way to study this book. When using the quant guides, it was really easy for me to pick the types of things that I needed to make a flash card for, but with the SC guide I'm having a hard time deciphering the information that I should add to a flash card. It would be greatly appreciated if anyone has any tips that helped them in their studies of this guide.

Also, I work full-time, thus I typically study after the work day is complete. This hasn't posed any issues for me while studying quant, but I'm really struggling with comprehending the verbal material when doing my studies at this time. I would appreciate any tips or suggestions to help make the use of my time more effective.

Thanks,
Rob

here are the best things to make flash cards for:

1) Grammar rules. You need to have a solid knowledge of these so you can apply them to the questions you encounter.

2) Notes on how to recognize each question type. All your knowledge of grammar rules will be of no use if you cannot identify when to use them.

when answering questions, first scan the answer choices to see what question type you are dealing with. once you know that, you can choose which grammar rule to apply..
