Like Vs. As

by kaushalneo Tue May 11, 2010 10:23 am

I came across this on a website :

Timothy talks (like/as) his friends do.

This is one of the few instances where "like" should be used in English. "Like" is used here as a direct comparison.

As far as I have studied, since its a action of talking that is being compared not a noun (by "talks" and "do"). It should be "as" and not "like".

Am I right ?

Please explain in detail.
