Last two weeks - study strategy

by snyderkb Mon Feb 18, 2013 11:26 am

I am taking the GMAT on 3/1 (a week from this upcoming Friday). I took the MGMAT CAT 4 exam on 2/10, and got a 740 (Q46,V45). Took GMAT Prep Sample Exam 1 on 2/17, and got a 780 (Q50, V47). I have two more MGMAT CATs to take, as well as the second GMAT Prep sample exam. Both exams that I have done recently were under standard test requirements (timed, with essay and IR).

What should I do in the final few days leading up to the actual exam? I am thinking about taking one final practice exam this weekend to keep my stamina up, but not sure if it should be the MGMAT CAT 5, or second GMAT Prep exam. Also, any other study strategies for the home stretch would be appreciated!

Thanks Stacey. Would you recommend that for my final practice test, I take the GMAT Prep sample #2, or MGMAT CAT #5?

Tough call - you could go either way. :)

GMATPrep:
pro = it's closest to the real thing
con = the IR section is identical to that for GMATPrep #1 (so you should set up your own separate IR section if you do this one)
con = the test gives you NO data to analyze (if you do this one, set up a program that will let you easily track your per-question time; if you have a smartphone, it probably already has an app to do this)

MGMAT:
pro = it's a full / complete test
pro = it gives you tons of data afterwards to analyze
con = it's not made by the people who make the real test, so there are definitely going to be more differences compared to the real test

I really do think it's a 50/50 choice AS LONG AS you do 2 things if you choose GMATPrep (the two listed above). So pick whichever one you want based on which of the pros and cons above are most important to you!
