Last three weeks to GMAT

by NirajanaM435 Sun May 29, 2016 8:24 pm

Hi,

I have taken 4 CATs till now. In the third one, I had got a 670 and after that I scheduled a Post Assessment analysis. I tried to follow the suggestions but my score fell below to 620 in my 4th CAT. However, I kept following the suggestions for another 2 weeks and then took a GMAT Prep Test instead of a CAT test.
I scored a 730. I have my GMAT on 21st June. I wanted to know what strategy should I follow till that date.

My weaknesses are as follows
Verbal - CR (The medium and hard ones)
SC- I am reasonably ok

Quant
I take a lot of time to solve inequality and absolute value questions. Also when DS questions are a combination of word problems with some bit of inequality , I take a lot of time.

Any suggestions or advice. I am looking at a target score of 730.

Regards
Nirajana

Congratulations on your most recent practice score!

You are already in the range that you want to be, though I am concerned about potential timing issues. As you know, if you mess up the timing, that can really hurt your score.

Read this:
http://tinyurl.com/executivereasoning

And this:
http://www.beatthegmat.com/mba/2016/02/ ... n-the-gmat

Then tell me why you think I thought you should read these. How should this affect your approach to those hard quant questions on which you currently spend a lot of time?

Have you done the Timing Strategies Interact lesson from session 6 of class? If not, do that right away, then take another practice test this week-end to practice that.

Also, take a look at section 4 of this article:
http://tinyurl.com/GMATTimeManagement

I do recommend reading sections 1 through 3 of that article first - but your primary focus is going to be on section 4. This will help you to start cutting yourself off on some of these too-long problems.

Once people are generally in the range that they want to score on the real test, I recommend doing this for the final 2-ish weeks:
https://www.manhattanprep.com/gmat/blog ... game-plan/

(Note: that is a 2-part article; make sure to read both parts.)

At this stage, you mostly just need to review and solidify your skills - although, as I said, I'd like you to do some work on the timing as well, in order to minimize the chances that you experience a timing problem that results in a score drop on the real test.

Let me know if you have any questions about that!
