Jim's dog, Tucker, eats every

by ashwinrkamath Fri Jun 25, 2010 10:44 pm

Jim's dog, Tucker, eats every hour on the hour and eats exactly half of the number of dog food pellets in his bowl. If Jim fills Tucker's bowl at 7:30 a.m. with 80 dog food pellets, what percent of the original 80 pellets will there be in Tucker's bowl at 11:30 a.m. of the same day?

2.75%
3.125%
6.25%
12.5%
20%

Hi!
I have a doubt in this question. What information in the question indicates the time at which Tucker eats, as mentioned in the solution?
According to the solution provided, I misunderstood this simple question.

I assued Tucker eats at 7:30, 8:30, 9:30, 10:30 and 11:30.
Where did i go wrong?

Thanks

"On the hour" means x:00, not x:30 (where x is some hour). "Every hour on the hour" means once an hour, and only at times ending with :00.

Thanks Mschwrtz!!

Its just that i never came across such a question.
Its was more of a knowledge gap than a doubt.
