Issue with Manhattan Gmat CAT timing

by pri1229 Mon May 23, 2011 9:13 pm

I'm trying to take the CAT through the Student center and I entered 75 minutes in for both the Math and Verbal section. For some reason it's forcing me to move to the next question after 1:15 seconds per question. It seems like somehow this is the timed question option although I'm fairly certain I didn't select this method and 75/37 should be just over 2 minutes per question.

I can't find any way to change the timing. I can't really use the practice test with the 1:15 timing, and I can't retake it until I do all of the practice tests so I'm kind of stuck right now.

Is there anyway to reset the timing here? I just want to take it in the normal 75 min time frame or the next best thing would be 2 min/question. Only other workaround I see is randomly clicking through all the of answer choices and moving on to the next Practice Test. Then once I do the last one, I can go back and retake the one.

If anyone knows how to reset the time though, that would be preferable.

Double check your selection. On the MGMAT CAT's you can select either XXX minutes for entire section or XXX seconds per question. 75 seconds per question would be the 1:15 you are seeing now. Just verify you are entering the 75 in the correct box.

Terence is right that 75 seconds = 1 minute 15 seconds, so my guess is also that you entered the time into the wrong box, unfortunately.

I'm not sure whether it can be reset at this point; you need to ask tech support. Contact them at:

They'll let you know what you can do.

You can, by the way, just ignore that test for now - leave it - and start a new test. Just double-check as you set the timing parameters. :)

Ah I see, my fault then. I don't see a way though to move to the next test without completing this one. The only option I see is resume. I'll probably just click through it so I can get to the next test, but if I'm missing something please let me know.

I'm pretty sure you can start a new test even if you have one on "hold." You should just be able to click that same link that says "start test." But maybe the tech department has changed something - I'm not sure. Send them an email to ask: techsupport@manhattangmat.com
