Is this EIV flashcard answer wrong?

by leeannaj.85 Thu Jul 28, 2011 1:33 pm

I am totally second guessing myself here, but to be completely clear, can someone confirm that the answer to the following EIV flashcard should read "minimum value = -5, x=-7"?

What is the minimum value of f(x)= -5 + (X+7)^2, and at what value of x does it occur?

The flashcard is currently reading the opposite, that the min value is -7 and x equals -5. Thank you!

Hi,

I have checked that flashcard and it seems fine. It is saying that x + 7 needs to be zero and therefore x = -7

Is this the flashcard that is asking for the coordinates?

It's an EIV flashcard and asks:

What is the minimum value of f(x)=-5 + (X+7)^2, and at what value of x does it occur?

I understand the explanation given, but I do not think the bolded answer at the top of the flashcard corresponds to the explanation. The bolded answer says:

Answer: minimum value= -7, x=-5

shouldnt the minimum value supposed to equal -5 and x supposed to equal -7?

The one that I am seeing is this:

What are the coordinates of minimum of f(x)=-5 + (x +7)^2

Yours seems a little different. What is the flashcard number?
