Is following sentence grammatically correct?

Hi,

Can any1 pls tell whether the below sentence is correct grammatically?

"My dog is very silly; he always runs after cars."

I think it is fine. It has Sub+Verb (semi-colon) Sub+Verb construction and according to me it is fine.

Why do you want to know about this sentence by the way? Do you have specific problem related to this sentence?

I'll echo Willy's sentiments here and add one more- don't worry about what's acceptable on the GMAT- find the things that are unacceptable in SC and learn why they are unacceptable. The correct answers won't always sound great, but if you can find 4 answer choices that are definitely wrong, you'll know the right answer.

(side note- good luck on the 29th, Willy)

that's your primary job, of course, but it's also important to recognize things that are acceptable but of which you weren't previously aware (i.e., "strange-looking" [to you] constructions that are actually ok). it's both ways.

on the other hand, it's also important not to wander off too far into the territory of things that are clearly informal english and/or non-GMAT material.
so, this whole "my dog" thing is not a particularly productive use of your study time, since it clearly doesn't represent the sort of formal english that appears on the exam.
