Inference questions in RC

by ruturajpatil.51 Mon Dec 26, 2011 5:48 am

I need help in inference questions of RC.Basically I just understand the structure of the passage when i read it for the first time.I keep a close look to the transitive phrases and see where the author is going using these phrases.I just keep a note of all these sentence in the first read.I get to know what is there in which passage.

I am facing problems with the inference based specific questions.sometimes they ask to infer about a particular term in RC.Presently I am getting all of these questions wrong and I am not getting where to look in the passage in such type of questions.

What strategies shall I follow for the same.

Good question. Take a look at this article:

You may also want to read this, which is about how to read the passage in the first place:
http://www.manhattangmat.com/blog/index ... p-passage/

Also, Draw a Conclusion questions on CR are basically the same kind of logical reasoning as Inference questions on RC, so read this too:

Finally, look through the forums for previously posted inference or draw a conclusion questions and also post your own to discuss with the instructors. (Search for variations on the word infer and synonyms: inferred, implies, suggests, etc.)
