This was an incredibly helpful post. One way that I've started to think about these problems is to get rid of the confusing PQR, PRS and just relabel each angle. In this problem PQR = A, PRS = Y QPR = C. The problem is asking what is Y-A (given my labeling). Before I start any geometry problems I always quickly think about what I know. In this case I know that Y = A+C. Because of this I know that I'm really looking for C. Looking at the two statements 1) is clearly sufficient. 2) is sufficient because it allows me to know that C = 30.
