sure. but just remember -- if you can acknowledge (with brutal honesty) when you are stuck, and then quit when you're stuck, then there won't be a "time crunch" in the first place.

Noted Ron..:) With barbarous honesty, I admit, this is the reason i m suffering from time crunches..i m still not sure when to quit when i dont arrive at a solution..but quitting early wud save a lotta time..but wont help my score..seeking ur expertise...

please take the extra 0.2 seconds to write out words like "would" and "could". thank you.

--

basically, you should have an annoying voice in your head that is constantly asking you the same three questions over and over again:
* Do you know exactly WHAT you are doing?
* Do you have a REASON WHY you are doing it?
* Is it making tangible progress?

if the answers to these questions are not "yes", "yes", and "yes", then you should quit.
this doesn't necessarily mean that you should guess and move on to the next problem; first, you should see whether you can think of any other way to solve the problem. if you can, then try that alternate approach before quitting completely.
if not, then quit and guess.
