Idioms - Forbid X to do Y

by Guest Tue Feb 05, 2008 3:51 pm

Hi MGMAT Staff,

The correct idiomatic expression for the use of "Forbid" is listed as "Forbid X to do Y."

Is the expression "Forbid X from Y" also correct? For example, I forbid Indiana from entering the temple of Doom.

Thanks for your help.

on the gmat itself (at least from what we've seen on official questions), the only acceptable form of the idiom is "forbid TO" (with an infinitive).

if you see an official question with any other form, please do let us know!
