However (comma)

by kristen.li Mon Jul 02, 2012 12:30 am

I was reviewing the book Foundations of GMAT Verbal and got confused on page 91 (chapter 5) when it said, words like thus, therefore, moreover and nevertheless can also be used after semicolons in the way that however is used.

My questions are:
1. Can "However" only be used in the follow way: ".....; however, ...."?
2. Are words "thus, therefore, moreover" HAVE TO be used the same way as above, or is that optional?

thanks

the only examples i can think of use these words in the way you describe. i would be interested to hear if other students have seen these words used differently. don't focus too much on the comma though, as you can probably use these words with or without a comma..
