how to improve 700 - 800 level questions in certain areas

by aishwary_kant Thu Jul 04, 2013 12:53 pm

Hi!

I have recently purchased the Manhattan test series and found it extremely useful. It has helped me to increase my Quant score from 39 to 45 in 4 CAT tests. The statistics of my report have been very useful in evaluating my performance.

I have noticed that in few areas such as probability, combinations, cylinders, statistics ,and positives and negatives, i can solve questions of 600-700 level but not of higher level that. I have failed to genuinely find an answer for these questions at the higher level.

Please assist me on how i can improve on these areas, as these are vital to get 50 on Quant.

Have you learned all of the material (in those areas) in our Strategy Guide books (including in the Extra chapters towards the end of each book)? If not, that would be one place to start.

If you have, then the next place to look would be our Advanced Quant book - but that book is really more about HOW to solve tough questions. The fundamental content / concepts are all in the 5 main Strategy Guides.

Positive / negative, probability, and combinatorics are all found in our Number Properties Guide. Statistics can be found in our Word Problems Guide. Cylinders are (surprise, surprise) in the Geometry Guide.

Note: of that list, positive / negative and stats are more important. You may not see even one cylinder question on the test - those are much more rare.
