how to gauge my gmat ability

by vikram4689 Wed Oct 10, 2012 3:50 am

over last few months, i have practiced gmat problems extensively and have given some mock exam. my concern is that many of the questions that i see in gmat prep software are the ones that i have seen sometime bak during my preparation.

i am a re-taker and gave GMAT PREP 1.0 last week and scored 770 and 760. i expected to see some repeat questions and i did see.

today i gave GMAT PREP 2.0 and unfortunately some of the question in 1.0 and 2.0 were common and today i got 770.

i have also given free mgmat (perceived as most-accurate test other than gmat prep) and scored 780 but unfortunately i saw repeats here as well. i gave 6 mgmat test during my first preparation.

my concern is how should i gauge my ability ?

First, you'll have to find a practice test for which you have not already "spoiled" yourself (that is, seen the questions in advance). You might try 800Score.

Second, stop going over all of those old MGMAT and GMATPrep questions - forget about them all as much as possible! Then, in a month or two, you might be able to start taking those tests again. :)
