How much unassigned OG practice to do during 9-week course?

by JohnDoeNo24 Sat Apr 17, 2010 9:31 pm

Hello,
I have one specific question. I am following the MGMAT Study Organizer very closely; I notice that most - but not all - of the OG problems are assigned in the Organizer. Furthermore, few of the problems from the Verbal & Quant OG books appear to be assigned. What I am wondering is how to strategize fitting additional unassigned OG problems into my weekly work during the 9 weeks of the guided self-study program. I think I'm on a course to complete the 9-week course in 9-10 weeks, and then have an additional 3-4 weeks of study, or so. Just want to ensure that I will have practiced enough from the actual OG books. Any advice in this area would be much appreciated.

Many thanks,
Matt

I would not actually do much additional work in OG. You're going to want to have some new questions to use after you've finished the course, so you need to save a decent proportion for after the 9 weeks.

Once you're done with the material once, you're going to have to start setting up sets of mixed problems. That's a REALLY important step because the real test doesn't give you, say, 4 geometry problems in a row, nor does the test tell you: hey, the next question is going to be a quadratic equation question. You DO know that information while doing problem sets during the course, but on the real test, you're going to have to look at a new question and decide for yourself what it is.

So, save those questions for later! :)
