How many study hours outside of class?

by HenryL545 Thu Jul 27, 2017 1:30 pm

Outside for the 3 hours of classroom work, how many additional hours do you recommend I dedicate each week to individual studying? When I took the MGMAT class three years ago, I am pretty sure they said around 12? Wanted to check in to make sure what the MGMAT recommended study time each week is. Thanks.

Hello! You're re-taking? Yes, we still recommend something similar. It can obviously vary depending upon how much of a score improvement you're seeking, among other factors—but I tell my students they can generally expect to spend about 10 to 15 hours a week on homework outside of class. Also assume that you'll want to take 2-3 weeks for review after the course is over—you're learning new material right up through the last class.

Some people are working 80-hour weeks (or have other commitments) and can't do that. Students in that situation should expect to spend some additional time after the course is over to finish all of the work before they begin the review phase.

Have fun with your class!
