How I scored a 770 and my quest for an 800

by ConAzer1 Sat Nov 28, 2009 12:36 am

I was very fortunate to have done well on the GMAT.

Hi, Conrad

(For those who don't know, Conrad is a representative of 2minutegmat.)

As we've discussed via email, I have had concerns about your representation of yourself and your company in some of the posts you have made on our forums. I'm concerned once again after reading the above post.

According to our student records, no one with your name has ever taken a course from us. I found two files for you (one under "Conrad Azer" and one under "Conrad Egusa") both of which contained only 1 free test (with scores of 620 on September 22nd and 680 on November 18th, just 9 days before your above post). Can you clarify? Perhaps you took the course under an assumed name?

You also mentioned in a post on November 14th that "I am going to be taking the official GMAT in 1 month" but your above post is dated just 13 days later and implies that you have already taken the official GMAT. Can you clarify?

I am asking you to verify all of this because we have already had questionable posts from your company in the past - posts that were designed to market 2minutegmat and contained false information in order to do so. For example, see the below post, which was "spammed" all over our site before we deleted all instances of it except for this one. In this post, someone claims to have scored 770 and further claims acceptance to Stanford, a full month before Stanford sends out any acceptance letters: http://www.manhattangmat.com/forums/post33137.html?hilit=2minutegmat

As I mentioned in our email discussion, we are very happy that your company would like to provide advice for GMAT students, and we encourage you to start your own forums in order to do so.

I don't mean to open a can of worms, but I would like to say that I signed up for 2minutegmat and feel completely duped.

There many obvious typos in all question types, as well as many obvious grammatical mistakes in the critical reasoning questions. In sentence correction, sometimes the first answer choice isn't even the same as the underlined portion of the question stem. They are supposed to send you different questions every day, but I got the same questions two days in a row. Etc.

I signed up for 2minutegmat because I was practicing hard for the GMAT and was desperately searching for extra practice questions. Time is precious, and I can't risk wasting any more time on 2minutegmat.

2minutegmat, your service is a good idea, but the quality needs to be improved significantly. Until it is improved, you are misleading your subscribers.

Just wanted to share my experience.

Sameer, thanks for your post. You aren't opening up a can of worms - we welcome input from students on the actual materials that they've used. We don't allow people to post negative reviews of things they've "heard about" but we do allow people to post negative (and positive!) reviews of things they've actually used.

That's also why we require people to specify if they have any affiliation with a particular company - we want to make sure people know the source of any advice they read.

It's great news that you have improved your score upto 770 in your quest for a 800. Have you looked at where you are losing that last 30 though? Taking a look at where you are coming up short could be the key to closing that last gap.

alex442, I've removed the link from your post. If you are a student with a particular recommendation to make, please let us know. If you are affiliated with the site to which you linked and just trying to drive traffic, please find another way to do so (without using our forums).
