How good are official practise test

by nishantgourav2 Sun Jan 17, 2010 7:36 am

Hello Friends,

I was wondering as to how close to the actual gmat test is to the official practise test. I got 650 in practice and had roiled up the quant. I have improved the quant sgnificantly since then. Now I get not more than 3 wrong in quant section in other practise tests where as in official practice test I had as many as 18 wrong. The state of preparation of verbal remains the same.

Can I expect, on the basis of improvement in quant alone, to be able to cross the 700 mark.

Thanks for our reply.

Cheers!!

There's no way for me to tell - you haven't given me the necessary data about your performance. (The test is not scored based upon percentage correct.) If you'd like, please tell me your specific scores (overall, quant and verbal), the type of practice test (GMATPrep, MGMAT, whatever), the dates on which you took each test, and whether you followed official testing conditions when taking the test (essays, two 8-minute breaks, etc.).

In general, I would trust GMATPrep much more than any other practice tests - it is the best practice test available. Also, 3 wrong sounds WAY too low unless you are scoring in the 99th percentile every single time and also probably finishing the test with 10-20 minutes to spare (in other words, if you're a math genius). Everybody gets a lot of questions wrong on these tests!
