HELP with Word Translation

by brianfalzer Tue Feb 01, 2011 12:32 pm

4th Edition
Guide 4
Chapter 5
Problem 15

In the solution it says to FLIP one of the two inequalities signs to combine the inequality. I know the inequality signs have to point in the same direction in order to add them but can you just flip one without having any other consequence on the problem? That's what the solution seems to suggest...

I thought you can only flip the inequality when you divide by negative or take reciprocals.

I apologize. I just checked the Errata and found that it was discussed there.

Seems to be a typo in the book.
