Help

by eskebranded Mon Jul 04, 2011 3:20 am

I have taken three gmat practice exams, first 3 I scored in the range of 470-510.. recently i read a article which helped me in figure out the reason i was scoring so low despite knowing the stuff being tested, I concluded that it was a time issue, in the quant section i was guessing on the last 8 -10 question which i figure was killing my score. Now i took a practice exam put lil effort in the AWA section and got a 570 on the test. WOW! is there something wrong? i got thru both exams not spending too much time on any particular question just aiming to get thru the exam, I actually did better in quant then verbal..help what are your thoughts...test this week? I am aiming for above 520

Thanks
happy 4th

That's great! Yes, timing can really kill scores.

I'd like to see you back up that performance with one more practice test. Doing it once is a great start, but let's make sure you can replicate and don't have new problems crop up (sometimes we go too far in the opposite direction!).

Also, did you take that test under 100% official conditions, including essays and length of breaks? If not, do that next time, just to make sure. Skipping the essays can result in a score bump on the multiple choice (mental stamina is better if you don't have to write for an hour first!!).

You're getting close!
