headline lists, skeletal sketches, and timing

by jzoom1 Sun Mar 11, 2012 10:28 pm

Hi,

I have a general question about strategy. My problem is that whenever I try to do a headline list for a short passage or a skeletal sketch for a long passage, I work too slowly and end up not finishing it within the recommended time window (2.5-3 minutes for headline lists and 3.5-4 minutes for skeletal sketches). Although I am continually trying to improve my notes so that they are more concise and abbreviated, I find myself still taking too long.

Do you have any recommendations/advice for me? I was thinking of changing my strategy to still actively go through the thought processes involved in creating the headline lists/skeletal sketches, but to save time by not actually writing anything down. Would this be a bad strategy to consider? Thanks.

Yes, taking shortcuts in your studying is usually a bad strategy. The only way to get faster at this process is to work on it until you get better. Keep looking for ways to get more efficient, but don't cut corners in the process.. :)
