Has anyone got atleast 100 pts from previous GMAT attempts ?

Hello,

I am just trying to figure out for any possible GMAC rule/methods in scoring algorithm.

So, in reality has anyone scored atleast 100 pts or more from their previous attempts. When I say 100 pts assume 550 to 650 or 580 to 680 or 600 to 700 per se.

One of the main reason I think I need is this. GMAC has the record that a person A has taken the test & his ability is say at 580. Now A comes back to a test center & tries to take the same GMAT exam. Since GMAC has his data, why would it allow him to answer beyond his ability level from his earlierattempts ??

Many wud argue NO to this, suggesting GMAC does not discriminate based on previous attempts and throws questions randomly similar to a first time test taker. I doubt this phenomena. Any concrete reason I shud believe otherwise ?

I took the GMAT today, and I improved 170 points from my previous score, thanks to the MGMAT courses. The difference was an improvement on how I approached certain questions and timing.

The questions were about the same, but I felt much more prepared.

London Business School '09--Hopefully.

That would be like saying: we don't think anyone can ever improve, so once you get a score, we won't ever let you get a better score (even if you do improve). That simply doesn't happen; if it did, they'd be sued for discrimination.

If you do the work to improve, and if you don't have major problems with timing or stamina or nerves or anything else, then you'll get a better score. I have absolutely seen students improve by that amount and more.

Also - to the guest poster - nice job! Good luck!

Thanks Guest & Stacey for clearing my skeptics.

Now, Let me seriously prep & try to get more than 100 pts from my previous attempt. Ideally I wud be happy at 130 points more that touches 7xx.
