Good book for Grammar

by shashankkarra Mon Jan 18, 2010 12:00 pm

Can anyone suggest me a good book on Grammar? I just need to brush my basics a little bit without going into too much detail. Are there any books designed specifically for the GMAT.

Thanks,
Shashank

If you ask a question like this on a GMAT prep company's website, then you're going to get a recommendation about that company's book. :) Yes, we have a book (called "Sentence Correction") that discusses all of the grammar you need to know specifically for the GMAT. You can read about on our website or go to a bookstore and look through it. There are also other products out there - I would recommend looking through some books yourself and also asking other students what they have used and liked.

Stacey,

Thanks for your reply. I do have all the MGMAT books and I have been going through the SC book. I was just looking for some simple high school grammar sort of book. Thanks for your reply once again :).

Ah, got it. There isn't something like that specifically for the GMAT (that I know of, anyway), but if you want to find something that might be a little bit "lighter" than our SC book, then I'd go to the library (or a bookstore) and start browsing through grammar texts until you find something that's written in a style that "clicks" for you. Then, don't read that whole book. Only read / study the things that are going to be on the GMAT (and you can figure that out by cross-referencing with your MGMAT SC book).

Stacey- be careful about saying that the book covers all of the grammar on the GMAT. I bet if I looked at official questions hard enough...:)

Well, yeah, any book about any topic in the world doesn't literally cover 100% of that topic.

Our books contain enough of the required information to allow someone to score in the 99th percentile. We'll call that close enough. :)
