GMAT Test on Monday! Took class in 2012. Help!

by brymruss Thu Dec 04, 2014 1:58 pm

Hi Everyone,

I took a Manhattan GMAT class back in the fall of 2012. In the end, I did not take the GMAT because I was not prepared to go back to school. Recently, I decided to apply to a part-time Master's program which starts this summer. My only dilemma is the application deadline. I need to have all my materials completed by February 1, 2015. Now, I have found myself scrambling to study for the test. I am registered to take the exam on Monday 12/8/2014, and I plan to take it one more time in January.

Since the GMAT changes frequently, I am concerned that I am working with dated materials from my 2012 class. Are there any major changes to the test that I need to know? Are my CAT exams outdated?

Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Along as you're aware that there is one AWA question and an IR section, you're pretty much up to speed.

Thanks, Mohit.

Yes, the major change is that in June of 2012, they dropped one of the two essays and added the new Integrated Reasoning section. This section is not very important yet, but it is given before Q and V, so you need to be prepared not to use too much brain energy on it. :)

When did you take the class? What edition are your books?

The CAT is a dynamic piece of software - you can't take old exams - so no worries there. You just won't have access; your online materials will have expired by now, but you can reinstate them for a relatively modest fee. Give the office a call (800.576.GMAT in US and Canada, 212.721.7400 elsewhere) to see what your options are.

Good luck! And feel free to come back here for advice during your studies!
