Good news and bad news. Bad news first: standardized tests have standard deviations, and the standard deviation for our practice test is about 50 points. The standard deviation for GMATPrep hasn't officially been published, but the SD on the real test is about 30 points, so expect GMATPrep to be about the same or a bit higher.
I agree with your assessment that verbal looks like the problem - your quant score was consistent with your practice test scores.
The good news (really - keep reading): your verbal score represents a drop of about 20 percentile points, which is significant - that isn't so much within the expected deviation. That means it's more likely something went wrong on the official test and, if we can figure out what that was, then we have a shot at fixing it!
