GMAT Prep 2.1 Verbal Focus

by jhwang116 Tue Sep 04, 2012 7:17 pm

Hi,

I know there's been some discussion and several articles written about how the verbal portion of the GMAT is evolving (i.e. more focus on meaning within SC).

I've taken the verbal portion in both the original and v2.1 of GMAT Prep, and I'm wondering if the new version (v2.1) better reflects the focus of the current GMAT.

Thanks,
Jason

A lot of the questions are still the same - a majority, I would say. And I *believe* I remember them saying at a conference last fall that most of the new questions would still be from the "old" regime (before ACT took over question writing on the test), which means most of the questions will not be indicative of the styles of the latest writers.

But I do also believe that they were planning to swap out questions they thought were no longer so representative and replace them with questions that they think are more representative.

So that's a convoluted way of saying, yes, the latest GMATPrep is more indicative of today's test than the earlier version - but I think there are still some significant enough differences on SC in particular that some people might notice a difference on the real thing.
