gmat exam cancelled !!

by sushmana123 Sat Sep 04, 2010 3:59 pm

Today,4-sep-2010, at 12pm, i had my GMAT scheduled at Pearson Professional center, dallas,TX.I registered for the exam as 'sushma lnu' , where 'lnu' stands for 'last name not applicable'. In my passport only my first name 'sushma' is there and there's no last name mentioned ,that's why i mentioned 'lnu' in 'last name' field while registering for GMAT. Because of this mismatch in 'last name', they dint allow me to take the test.

in all my official documents,i've last name lnu, its none of my fault.now i've got mail stating that,i cant reschedule my missed appointment, and will have to schedule exam again by paying another 250$.

its really depressing and so disgusting,i am unemployed, paying again 250$..seems really difficult.

could anyone help me in any ways, any suggestion ?

That is very annoying. When you were filling out the form online, do you remember whether you were required to fill in the "last name" box in order to register? If that is a required field, and you can't leave it blank, then there is no possible way for you to register for the test AND have the registration match your passport.

And, if that's the case, then you have a chance not to have to pay again. :) Call up GMAC (not just Pearson) and explain the situation. If you literally could not have registered otherwise, and if all of your other US governmental documentation uses "lnu" then your actions were reasonable.

Also, call Pearson to register a formal complaint.

Be VERY nice when calling. The nicer you are, the more the person on the other end of the phone will want to help you.
