GMAT Breaks and Timing for Reading Directions

by spucmu Wed Apr 07, 2010 10:56 pm

If I am not wrong, GMAT gives 8 minutes break between sections. If I am spend few minutes reading directions for different sections (CR, RC etc.) then does that count towards test timing? My guess is yes but wanted to reconfirm.

there are only two intervals during the GMAT test, one after you finish the AWA section, the other after you finish the math section,
one interval is 8 min, and not count in the test time

Thanks chunyang!

Does anybody know whether the time spent on reading directions count towards exam time?

The last time I took it, the two 8-min breaks did not include doing anything for the test (including reading instructions) and you actually had to leave the testing room during each 8-min break.

At the beginning of each section, there was a page of instructions and I was given 1-min to read each page.

Actually, the last time I took it, the breaks were still 10-min long, not 8-min, so it's entirely possible that the 1-min instructions thing has changed, too. Anyone who took it more recently: do you remember how long you were given to read the initial instructions for a new section?
