GMAT 730(51/38/6)

by target760 Wed Oct 15, 2014 7:20 pm

Good Day Stacey,
First of all I would like to thank all of the MGMAT instructors because the efforts put by all of you in the various forums for discussions and MGMAT Strategy Guides helped to get a good score of 730(Q51/V38) today. And special thanks to Stacey for her various wonderful articles :)

I just need to inquire whether the 730 can be considered a competitive score as in my verbal section, I hid the clock and mismanaged with the timings, eventually ending up with 20 minutes for 15 questions. Initially I had passages consisting of 5 paragraphs and then one of 4 paragraphs. CR was mostly composed of Evaluation and Assumption questions initially. So that means that level was good for first 25 questions and then the decline started as i saw the time left and got nervous.
So is it recommended to take the test again as with a bit of time management I may hope for a 750+ but that calls for another investment of time and effort. Or rather I take a shot and apply with this score.
Hoping for your reply, which has always helped me. :)
Thanks in advance.

Nice job!! Yes, your 730 is great, as are your sub-scores. Every school thinks a 38 is good. I'm impressed that you still got a 38 with the timing issues that you mentioned!

I think there are only two possible reasons why you might take the test again:
(1) You're applying for a scholarship that specifically takes into account the GMAT score, or
(2) You want to get a 760+ so that you can apply to teach for us.

Other than that, you're good to go. Good luck with applications - let me know how it goes!

Thanks a lot Stacey for your reply.
The only reason I wanted to go for retake was for scholarship. Otherwise I don't have any plan to teach for MGMAT. That's the most difficult job in the world :).
Hats Off to all of you doing the good work out there.
I am applying with the same score.
Once again thanks to all the MGMAT Team !!!
