Hi,
This problem is from MGMAT study guide 3 (4th edition) pg 90.
Given that 0 ≤ x ≤ 3, and y < 8, which of the following could not be the value of xy?
(A) 0
(B) 8
(C) 12
(D) 16
(E) 24
The answer given is (E) given the logic of multiplying the highest possible value for x which is 3 with highest possible value for y which is less than 8. this gives a value less than 24.
I do not understand how 16 can be got as the only possible value for x is 2 but y cannot be 8 ?
Thanks in advance
