by bazinga Thu Dec 16, 2010 12:26 am

After analyzing my MGMAT tests, i have observed that i am usually getting long SC questions incorrect. Does anyone faces similar problem ?

Any tricks or anything that can be done to get over it ?

I use this in order
1. check the beginning of the underlined portion
2. check the end of the underlined portion
3. check for punctuation, comma, semi-colon, etc
4. check everything else in the remaining options.

parag, a lot of students don't like long SC problems; however, they can be easier to deal with than short problems because they frequently have more splits. This allows you to use an aggressive process of elimination.

I recommend that you aggressively use splits. See you if you can isolate one error and then remove any answer choices that repeat or do not adequately address the error. Proceed from there.

The other aspect is to manage your anxiety when you see such a problem. I find that many students "go blank" when they see a long SC problem; try to remind yourself that these are just as workable as a shorter problem.

Please consider your strategy for long SC problems and post again if you'd like to discuss further.
