Final Countdown! Four Week Strategy?

by matthew.eberhart Sun Feb 13, 2011 3:07 pm

I've finished my mgmat 9-wk course, and I just finished my 3 practice exam.

On my second, which I took halfway through the mgmat course, I scored a 700 (Q43 V41). After the halfway mark, I was studying all second-half material and didn't focus much on number props, inequalities, etc.

I just took my third test and scored a 720 (Q44 V44), yet it my estimated percentile rank is now 73%, a decrease from 77% on my second test. First of all, I don't understand that discrepancy...

Secondly, now that the course is over, what do people recommend as the best way to study? Of course, I'll keep reviewing my flashcards and notes. But what about questions? Focus on specific concepts and do groups of questions in these areas or work more randomly to be prepared for whatever the real exam will throw at you? Or something else entirely.

Thanks!

I'm assuming that you're talking about your percentile rank for one of the subsections (quant, presumably, from the numbers).

The percentile rankings that correspond to certain scores do change over time. We recently updated our scores to match the updates / changes on the real test.

Good question re: what to do now that the course is over. Basically, you want to do a comprehensive review and get lots of practice. If you already know there are areas that you're forgetting, you can begin by reviewing those areas in your red strategy guides. If you feel pretty good or aren't sure what you might be forgetting, then do random sets of problems (because things get thrown at you in random order on the real test too), and then drive your review from that. You'll miss certain things and that will make you realize you need to review those things.
