Extra CAT vs OG books (two days to go)

by work Tue Dec 11, 2012 1:08 pm

Hello, I write my GMAT this Friday. I am unable to use GMATPrep because my computer is not compatible. I've done all my MCAT practice tests and am happy with my scores.

Tomorrow (Wednesday) will be my last day to do another practice test. Am wondering whether it's better to redo another MCAT (question bank is now being repeated) or put one together from the OG 13th edition book myself.

Any input is appreciated.

Thanks!

It is generally advised to take the last test one week prior to the test date, at most 5 days before the test date.

It is only a test, don't stress yourself out. If you have been scoring with in your targets on MGMAT tests then its highly likely you will score the same. Stress and anxiety are the biggest factors in this test. Doing more tests towards the examination date is highly unlikely to increase the scores.

Keep a calm mind, relax, brush up through the basics. A day before the exam it would be better not to touch GMAT material and keep your mind relaxed. Do something that relaxes you and something that is not physically strenuous.

All the best mate

Sorry I'm just getting to this now - for future, if you have only a couple of days till the test, contact our office directly - as you've discovered, forum responses are slow!

I would have told you exactly what ajithalexjacob told you - don't take a practice test of any kind 2 days before the real exam. Just do high level review. What are my main strategies for the different question types? What's my timing strategy? What am I going to do if I find myself behind on time? How do I guess? How do I know WHEN to guess? What are the major math and grammar rules I need to know? Etc.

As a general rule, people should review for only 2-3 hours 2 days before and only 1-2 hours the day before. Think of it this way: you're about to run a marathon. The day before, you're either ready or you're not. Either way, you rest - you don't tire yourself out the day before. :)

Hope everything went well!
